1 .Position: Tax and Compliance Officer (1 position)
Position purpose
The Tax and Compliance Officer will play a crucial role in managing tax obligations, coordinating tax audits, and interfacing with governmental authorities. This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate complex tax environments and contribute to strategic financial decisions, whilst ensuring rigorous adherence to tax laws and regulations
Roles and Responsibilities
- Overseeing compliance with all applicable tax laws, including direct and indirect taxes.
- Reporting on tax-related matters to the CFO and Group Tax Manager.
- Advising on and implementing changes in tax legislation.
- Liaising with the Tanzania Revenue Authority and other government bodies.
- Coordinating and managing tax audits and verifications.
- Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of all tax returns in accordance with the tax laws.
- Performing reconciliation of tax-related accounts and organize withholding tax certificates.
- Preparing monthly and annual tax workings for the purpose of financial reporting and tax returns, liaising with external advisors as needed.
- Managing VAT refunds and ensuring fiscal incentives and customs compliance.
- Maintaining internal controls and document procedures relating to taxation.
Qualification and competence required
- Bachelor’s degree in taxation, Accounting and Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) Tanzania or ACCA.
- Minimum of five years of experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in a similar tax role within the big four auditing firm or mining industry for at least three years.
Roster: 5 days on, 2 days off
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
2 .Position: Financial Accountant (1 position)
Position purpose
The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial accounting, reporting and system of internal controls, coordinating statutory audits, and interfacing with external and internal auditors. This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate complex financial reporting and controls environments and contribute to strategic financial decisions, whilst ensuring rigorous adherence to regulatory, legal, IFRS group’s requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities General business
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, IFRS and group’s standards requirements.
- Maintaining and developing adequate internal controls system including but not limited to policies and procedure to ensure professional standards are maintained.
- Implementing reporting requirement changes according to regulatory, IFRS, company’s and group’s standards.
- Providing transactional consultation services, to optimise investment returns and minimise risks for the organisation.
- Providing guidance with regards to financial Due Diligence requirements.
- Reporting on budget/actual variances to the Group.
Financial Accounting
- Preparation of monthly financial reports in accordance with Company’s and Group’s reporting standards and deadlines.
- Ad hoc preparation of financial reports as required by the Management or Group.
- Timely preparation of annual financial statements (statutory accounts) in accordance with IFRS.
- Responsible for internal and external audit processes and subsequent implementation of the audit recommendations.
Internal controls
- Instituting and overseeing an effective system of internal controls.
‘Continuous check on the compliance level and communicate to the CFO on any weaknesses identified and recommendations.
Qualification and competence required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance or commerce.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) Tanzania.
- Seven years of experience of which at least three must be in supervisory role.
- Experience in handling complex statutory audits as a client or conducting complex audits as an auditor.
Roster: 5 days on, 2 days off
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
