Senior Manager, Risk

The bank is seeking for talented, dynamic, self-driven and results oriented individual who is committed to performance excellence and participating in our growth strategy.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the position is responsible for establishing, implementing and enforcing a robust risk management framework and systems (policies, processes and tools) covering credit, operational, strategic, liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate risk.

THE ROLE

  • Provide co-ordination and guidance of the bank’s risk management activities.
  • Develop risk management policies, including the quantification of the Bank’s risk appetite through specific risk limits, in line with the Bank’s business plans and strategies.
  • Develop the analytical, systems and data management capabilities to support the risk management function and facilitate production of quality management and regulatory reports;
  • Establish a risk management culture that promotes good analysis, judgment, flexibility and balance between risk and reward
  • Ensure that processes exist for the identification, classification and management of key risks facing the bank.
  • Monitor, analyses and develop risk profiles of new areas of activities and ensure that they conform to regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain the Banks Enterprise Risk Management Framework for all aspects of risks across the bank and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Develop the Enterprise Risk function to ensure it is capable of supporting first Line of defense risk taking activities through effective second line challenge.
  • Recommend appropriate risk appetite aligned with strategic objectives and ensure the Board approved Risk appetite is integrated into the overall strategic agenda.
  • Develop adequate risk infrastructure to support strategy and operational activities.
  • Implement risk data aggregation capability to support seamless risk analysis and report.
  • Initiate a relevant stress test and scenario program, review the results and assess their implications for the Bank.
  • Implement control testing and assurance program over the design and effectiveness of risk frameworks, risk policies, and standards.
  • Implement risk scanning program to support assessment of Horizon and Forward-looking risks.
  • Review of the timely implementation and corrective action of deficiencies identified.
  • Ensure that the policies and procedures are reviewed on an annual basis
  • Ensure adequate management information systems are in place to facilitate communication and decision making
  • Put in place a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over the Risk function.
  • Coordination of the Bank’s Business Continuity Management Program

THE CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s Degree degree or its equivalent in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, Economic or related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications in Risk from a recognized professional body.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant business/function experience.
  • Experience in risk management programs and working with management and regulators.
  • Personal organization and initiative e.g. diary management
  • In-depth understanding of Global risk frameworks and their application.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and modelling skills.
  • A proactive, tenacious and results oriented leader with great initiative.
  • Ability to manage and motivate employees
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as good presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
