Job Location :Head Office, Hq

Job Purpose:

Responsible for risk assessment and management activities, particularly regarding new products and change projects. Conduct detailed analyses of bank operations to maintain a low-risk control environment. Collaborate effectively within the risk department to promote a risk-aware culture throughout the bank.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a robust operational risk management framework tailored to new products and change projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for new products and change initiatives, identifying potential operational risks and proposing effective mitigation strategies.
Analyze data to identify risk trends, control weaknesses, and recommend improvement plans aimed at reducing operational losses.
Generate regular risk reports, providing insights and recommendations regarding the banks operational risk profile and overall strategic outlook.
Conduct post-mortem reviews of all issued products, identifying emerging risks for management consideration, and tracking relevant mitigations with stakeholders.
Stay up to date on industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks in the operational risk management field.
Lead and facilitate risk-related training and awareness programs for staff, including the development and delivery of risk management policies and procedures.
Represent the operational risk management function in senior-level meetings, including risk committee meetings, and provide insights and recommendations on the banks operational risk profile.
Ensure timely escalation and reporting of risk events by collaborating closely with business units and provide post-incident support to analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.
Develop dashboard for strategic supporting on operational risk.
Cultivate strong relationships with business units and key stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor on operational risk matters related to new products and change projects.
Collaborate with business units to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies aligned with the banks risk appetite and overall objectives.
Provide guidance and support on risk management policies and procedures, ensuring their effective implementation and adherence.
Facilitate risk-related discussions and decisions, including risk assessments, reporting, and mitigation strategies, fostering a culture of risk awareness and accountability.
Provide regular status updates to business units on risk management initiatives and progress and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the operational risk management function, ensuring that it supports the banks overall risk management strategy.
Mentor and develop junior operational risk management staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

In-depth knowledge of retail and commercial banking products, risk management tools and methodologies, and operational processes.
Expertise in analyzing and reporting on key areas of concern through the use of MI.
Ability to apply risk skills and expertise across various business processes.
Advanced knowledge of risk principles, processes, and techniques, including relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation (e.g. Basel II, COSO, etc.).
Strong risk management and control skills, including risk assessment, auditing, and control design.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
Facilitation and team leadership skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent customer service skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
IT proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, economics, or risk management or related field.
Good understanding of banking systems, processes, risks, and controls.
Certification in Professional Risk Management or a willingness to obtain it.
Additional relevant certifications, such as PRINCE2 or Six Sigma.
Minimum of 7-10 years of banking experience, with a focus on risk management or audit.
Substantive experience in a financial services business or professional services firm.
Proven track record of managing stakeholders at all levels and leading teams.
Demonstrated experience in multiple parts of the risk process, such as audit, compliance, regulation, risk control, and operations.
Experience in leading and managing teams.
