Boxing is the number sport in Zambia says Federation President Chiteule

Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) president Dan Chiteule has bragged about his sport being number one in the Country looking at the success stories it continues to record.

Chiteule explains that boxing should be regarded as the number one sport in the Country in terms of winning medals at competitive games.

He says the mission for boxers at the 2023 African Games is to win gold adding that the federation is proud of the athletes for reaching the finals.

Paris 2024 Olympic Games-bound boxer Patrick Chinyemba has just won a gold medal in the 51kg final bout without stepping in the ring. This follows the withdrawal of South Africa’s Lubabalo Lusizi his opponent.

Furthermore, Chinyemba is one of the boxers who enjoyed taking part in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge a youthful league supported by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium and organised by the OYDC Zambia. And the assistant coach Ariel Banda helping coach Wisdom Mudenda is the Teulings boxing coordinator at the OYDC Zambia who ensures that young talented boxers are identified by clubs and subsequently selected to join the national teams.

Chiteule speaking to the OYDC Zambia media team urged other boxers to flog their opponents and ensure that they return home with gold.

” I want to congratulate the boxers for reaching the finals. We are proud of the team and the coaches for this great achievement. Boxing is the number 1 sport in Zambia in terms of winning medals. We are going for gold and good luck to the boxers in the finals” he said.
