Position: Public Diplomacy and Communications Officer
Embassy of Denmark
Dar es Salaam
Join our dynamic team at the Embassy of Denmark in Tanzania and contribute to fostering strong diplomatic relations between Denmark and Tanzania as a Public Diplomacy and Communications Officer. The job holder reports to the Team Leader/Management.
Denmark’s cooperation with Tanzania has been evolving since 1963, making Tanzania the first African country Denmark partnered with. Over the past 60 years, Denmark has contributed more than 50 trillion TZS to Tanzania’s socio-economic development through Danida, and close relations have been built between people and institutions.
In recognition of Tanzania’s evolving role on the global scene, Denmark is now broadening its partnership with Tanzania. In addition to development cooperation, we will work through government-to-government twinning, and we are committed to seeing stronger trade and investment relations, and a rich political dialogue on national and global issues of relevance to both Denmark and Tanzania.
To deliver on the future partnership, we seek a self-driven, creative, and strong communicator who can deliver on the Embassy’s public diplomacy ambitions. If you are SoMe-savvy, possess excellent and creative writing skills, and if you have an eye for audio-visual content, we can offer a rewarding work environment where you will get to collaborate closely with all teams of the Embassy’s work areas.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Identify and prioritise content for the Embassy’s public engagement platforms (Social media, website, intranet, etc.)
- Develop audio-visual content of development initiatives for public outreach.
- Ensure timely, tailor-made outreach to the public on key events.
- Support speech writing.
- Draft articles on Danish-Tanzanian cooperation for relevant platforms.
- Build network with communication colleagues and cultural attaches from other EU embassies and international organisations and participate in relevant working groups.
- Manage cultural projects.
- Support organisation of high-level visits and public diplomacy events such as Nordic Week.
- Monitor local and global news of relevance to the Embassy’s work.
- To learn more about the qualifications and other requirements, please visit the Danish Embassy’s website at www.tanzania.um.dk. The website will provide you with more information including the application process.
