The Vice-Chancellor of Moi University, Prof. Isaac S. Kosgey, addressed a road accident involving students of the institution on March 27.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 9:50 am when the university bus with registration number KCK 583U and 65 students was involved in a non-fatal road accident in the Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
The students were on an academic trip organised by the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili.
Prof Kosgey reassured the university community saying, “I am relieved to inform you that there were no casualties and all students are safe.
He also announced that arrangements were being made to send a bus to take the students back to the main campus.
Prof Kosgey expressed gratitude for the concern and support shown during the ordeal and urged drivers and road users to exercise caution, especially during the Easter holidays.
As a precautionary measure, he announced the suspension of all academic travel until after the Easter holidays.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance, particularly during periods of increased travel.
The University remains committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of its students and staff, and measures are in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
