Enhancing External Communication Materials for

Save the Children Tanzania

Objective: Save the Children Tanzania is seeking a consultant (individual or firm) to elevate its external communication efforts. The consultancy aims to improve the communication of Save the Children Tanzania’s program results and impact to external stakeholders.

The consultant will enhance existing materials and develop graphic templates that are engaging, visually appealing, and accessible to various audiences, including children, adults, and individuals with disabilities.

Scope of Work: Key responsibilities include:

  1. Data-Driven Storytelling: Use guantitative and qualitative data to tell compelling stories about the children and communities being impacted especially integrating statistics with personal stories to show transformation in beneficiaries’ lives.
  2. Impact Dashboards and Visualizations: Develop easy-to-understand dashboards or infographics that highlight key metrics (e.g., the number of children educated, healthcare services provided, or lives improved) to demonstrate and communicate the breadth and depth of Save the Children’s work across various sectors.
  3. Customized Data Presentations: Support Save the Children to use reports and data available to reflect donor-specific interests to showcase progress in child survival rates, child protection & Child right progress, education due to Save the Children’s interventions.
  4. Policy and Advocacy Data: Support Save the Children to present data in a way that addresses pressing national goals to demonstrate how Save the Children’s work contributes to broader goals that align with donor mandates.
  5. Predictive Data Analytics: Support Save the Children to develop predictive models that help donors understand emerging needs or potential risks.
  6. Humanitarian Data Analytics: Analyze program data to package and present the effectiveness and impact of Save the Children’s humanitarian responses to crises, such as food

insecurity, flooding, disease outbreaks and refugee response.

  1. Repackaging existing materials: Review and enhance current communication materials to clearly convey program results and impact.
  2. Developing graphic templates: Create visually engaging templates that align with Save the Children’s brand guidelines.
  3. Enhancing communication products: Apply new templates to existing and future materials, ensuring professional presentations of program impact.
  4. Brand alignment: Ensure all materials and templates adhere to Save the Children’s brand guidelines.
  5. Usability and accessibility: Design materials that are user-friendly and accessible, including options in English, Kiswahili, and formats suitable for individuals with disabilities.
  6. Digital integration: Embed QR codes linking to online repositories for easy access to the latest materials.
  7. Training and handover: Provide guidance and training to Save the Children staff on using the new templates effectively.

Duration and Deliverables: The consultancy will span 40 days, with key deliverables including an inception report, redesigned communication materials, developed graphic templates, training sessions, and a final report summarizing the consultancy outcomes.

Qualifications: Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design,                             Visual Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience in designing accessible communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, CorelDRAW).
  • Experience working on multilingual projects, with a focus on English and Kiswahili.
  • A strong understanding of accessibility standards and user experience principles.
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant work.
