Job Purpose:

The IT-MIS Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing the operations of management information systems, focusing on business analytics and reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Drive Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Reporting
    • Ensure the availability of Data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) for business reporting.
    • Ensure data loading accuracy on Business Intelligence (BI) and Police Portal to support business reporting.
    • Configure databases (DB2, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL) and manage BI and Police Portal application availability 24/7.
    • Install and configure software tools for accessing database applications (e.g., SQL Developer, Toad for Oracle, etc.).
    • Handle various application development tasks covering both front-end and back-end requirements.
    • Review and integrate third-party APIs into development processes.
    • Execute reporting KPIs, BI cubes, and revenue flash reports.
    • Manage and load data for business reporting.
    • Generate concrete and ad-hoc queries for Call Detail Record (CDR) checks.
    • Share reports in a timely manner with the business team.
    • Update Marketing and Finance dashboards.
    • Liaise with technical support for incidents impacting reporting operations.
    • Conduct timely data analysis for new products and campaigns.
    • Provide technical assistance during data audit processes.
  2. Ensure Stability, Reliability, Integrity, and Availability of Data
    • Perform daily and weekly reconciliations at the file level between network nodes and BI/Police Portal.
    • Manage database backups and restoration activities.
    • Conduct database maintenance activities (e.g., purging, reorganization).
    • Ensure timely deployment of patches and hotfixes.
    • Maintain, manage, and update software systems.
    • Adhere to change management processes within BI and Police Portal.
    • Proactively minimize potential system outages.
    • Ensure security hardening as advised by IT Security.
    • Communicate outages and planned downtimes to business stakeholders.
  3. Manage Client/Partner Relationship
    • Support IT internal clients to ensure business objectives are met.
    • Manage Airtel partners to ensure timely service delivery per agreed quality and SLA.
    • Interact with stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues.
    • Engage with partners/vendors for upgrades and issue resolution.
  4. Projects
    • Gather requirements for new reports to be implemented in BI/Police Portal.
    • Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely execution of Change Requests (CRs) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
    • Review work products and manage resource allocation effectively.
    • Provide support for new product launches and campaigns.

Skills & Knowledge:

Educational Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in ICT, Electronics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with SQL/MySQL/Oracle/DB2/Postgre databases.
  • API development and integrations (SOAP, REST).
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Java, PHP, JavaScript, Python, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows operating systems.
  • Project management experience.

Relevant Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the IT/Telecoms industry.
