MEP Package Manager Number of positions- One

Position Summary

The MEP Package Manager coordinates and supervises the MEPF-ICT construction works for the Mzizma school refurbishment and extension project. Ensure effective construction of buildings, engineering installations and equipment therein, including but not limited to LV, ELV, ICT, HVAC, PH, elevators, transformer substations, water supply facilities and pump stations, landscaping, etc

Key Responsibilities

  • Define extension project scope and perform project layouts, initial MEP installations design and cost estimates.
  • Ensure project estimates are accurate and the project scope is executable within the budget.
  • Manage the works package tendering process (incl. prequalification, mid-bid and post­bid meetings, bid analysis and contractor appointment)
  • Review contractors’ BOQs for accuracy and completion
  • Coordinate with the design team on all aspects of the MEP design.
  • Monitor progress against the Project programme regularly & assist with short-term & look-ahead programs.
  • To obtain QA documentation & check for compliance against the Project procedures, specifications & design.
  • Ensure that all project safety requirements are met and adhered to & instigate improvements.
  • To be the point of contact for subcontractor site management and be involved with the subcontractor selection.
  • Perform daily site visits to verify and confirm project equipment performance and operation.
  • To keep accurate records, daily diaries, and progress schedules of activities
  • Review and confirm/or reject contractor’s variation claims and identify the justification for claims.
  • Ensure site instructions are issued to maintain the progress of the works & coordinate with the Commercial department.
  • To conclude a project to AKES satisfaction, including snagging, commissioning, validation, and room readiness.

Requirements

Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience;

  • An MEP engineer, electrical engineer, or mechanic engineer with more than 6 years of relevant experience in design and/or construction.
  • At least A years of package management in a construction project management setting, preferably in educational facilities
  • Proven records in the delivery of MEP packages from inception to operation.
  • At least five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Proficient in English language and locally used language.
  • Possess the ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Proficient in using construction software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Visio, and MS Project.
