The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit NGO. AIRD’s objective is to offer operational technical support, including but not limited to: supply chain, logistics, and infrastructure in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected, poverty-infested, and development-oriented areas.

AIRD Tanzania Program is seeking qualified National Personnel for the following position:
Position: Vehicle Mechanic (1)
Location: AIRD Sub-Office, Kibondo
Reporting to: Senior Workshop Foreman
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and installation of vehicle and generator machinery parts. They shall conduct diagnostic tests and correct malfunctions according to prescribed maintenance procedures.
General Duties
- Conduct major overhauls of vehicle engines and transmission systems.
- Repair vehicles, generators, and machines according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics to determine vehicle and machine conditions.
- Drive-test repaired vehicles to confirm the effective performance of components.
- Safely dispose of all dismantled parts from vehicles/machines.
- Safely store tools and workshop equipment used during repair work.
- Adhere to occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations to minimize risks of personal injury and accidents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Form IV or Form VI Secondary Education.
- Motor Vehicle Mechanics Level III certification from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering with 3 years of experience in mechanics.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to safely handle various workshop tools and heavy equipment.
- Ability to develop diagnostic and technical reports and prepare maintenance estimates.
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions to protect against accidents, dangerous fluids, and chemicals.
