Dar es Salaam. Ihefu FC head coach Mecky Mexime says his side is ready to take revenge on Simba in the Mainland Tanzania NBC Premier League match tomorrow at the Liti Stadium in Singida Region.
The two teams will be meeting for the second time in the league as the first time, Simba won 2-1 on October 28 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Mexime said all his players are ready for the encounter and he believes they will do their best to continue frustrating Simba who were recently eliminated from the CAF Champions League quarterfinals and from the CRDB Federation Cup.
“We know Simba’s strength in the league. They are good and I have to admit that we are facing a tough test. However, we are going to play at our home venue, where we need to do our best. Technically and tactically, I am ready to show our prowess as I am still sharpening my squad,” said Mexime.
He added that his players are doing fine and are fit enough to face Simba, who are placed third in the league standings with 45 points from 19 matches.
Ihefu are placed 11th with 23 points from 21 matches and victory will make them leapfrog four teams and placed in the seventh position with 26 points.
The teams are Dodoma Jiji FC who are placed 10th with 23 points, Namungo FC (9th, 23 points), Kagera Sugar (8th, 24 points) and Singida Fountain Gate FC who are placed in the seventh position with 24 points.
“I am aware that they lost two consecutive matches. It is a lesson to them and I believe they will come different. I have committed players who, I am sure, will shine in the match,” he said.
Simba players are already in Singida ahead of the encounter.
Also, in the fixture are Geita Gold vs Mtibwa Sugar and the tie will kick off at 2pm.
The league continues today with Tabora United facing JKT Tanzania at 4pm and Kagera Sugar taking on Dodoma Jiji FC at 7pm.
