We are seeking a motivated and highly experienced individual to join our team as a:

Business Manager – The East African Newspapers

Job Purpose

To plan, coordinate, control, and supervise the Sales Executives team to achieve and exceed agreed advertising sales and collection targets. This role involves setting objectives, maintaining quality service, and ensuring excellent customer relations.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:

  • Leadership and Development: Provides results-driven leadership, identifies new ideas for Direct Sales development, discusses them with the Advertising Manager, and plans their implementation through Sales Executives.
  • Revenue and Customer Satisfaction: Ensures that the unit meets revenue and customer satisfaction objectives for areas of responsibility, using the value-selling process in partnership with the sales team to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Target Setting and Achievement: Sets individual and team sales targets and ensures they are met.
  • Sales Meetings and Employee Relations: Conducts regular sales meetings to review progress, maintain good employee relations, and uphold morale and discipline.
  • Client Interaction and Complaint Resolution: Maintains close contact with major brand representatives to ensure follow-up, amicable complaint resolution, and keeps the Advertising Manager informed.
  • Reporting: Submits monthly sales and collection reports to the Advertising Manager.
  • Sales Review and Support: Reviews client lists, discusses daily plans with sales executives, provides guidance, and, when necessary, accompanies them on sales trips.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Academic: Basic university degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Studies, or related fields.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in sales/marketing and at least 2 years in management.

Skills: Excellent analytical and communication skills.
