Nigerian music sensation, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, had a taste of Kenyan culture on Saturday 30 March in Nairobi during his latest music tour.
The superstar was treated to a traditional meal of ugali and omena, a popular dish in Kenya.
In a captivating video clip shared online, Davido was seen visiting popular chef Dennis Ombachi, also known as The Roaming Chef, where he indulged in the local delicacy.
Ombachi enthusiastically introduced Davido to the dish, describing the omena as “small fish fresh from Lake Victoria”.
Davido gamely took a few bites of the omena with brown ugali before nodding in agreement and uttering “done”, in reference to Ombachi’s signature slogan when preparing his meals.
The visit to The Roaming Chef’s kitchen added a unique flavour to Davido’s Nairobi experience, as he enjoyed the food and the warm hospitality of Kenyan cuisine.
Davido was in Kenya for the much anticipated Raha Fest on Saturday, March 30, at Uhuru Gardens.
He performed most of his hit songs including those from his latest album ‘Unavailable’.
Davido arrived at the venue amidst tight security.
Before he left the stage, the Nigerian sensation brought out a surprise guest, Sauti Sol’ Bien Aime, to perform with him as the crowd screamed with joy.
Interestingly, Davido has shown admiration for Dennis Ombachi’s culinary talents beyond their meeting in Nairobi.
In an earlier interview on TikTok Nigeria, the Assurance crooner revealed his fondness for Ombachi’s content on the platform.
When asked about his favourite content on TikTok, Davido confessed to being a fan of Kenya 7s rugby player and chef, The Roaming Chef.
He attributed his interest in Ombachi’s TikTok page to his wife’s passion for cooking and expressed his enjoyment of the food videos shared by the talented chef.
“What is your FYP (For You page)?” Davido was asked during the interview.
“Mostly food, my wife does cooking videos, so I follow The Roaming Chef,” Davido replied.
