The top earner at the Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP) collective management organisation takes home a basic salary of Sh394,240 per month.
According to a presentation document seen by Nairobi News to understand the workings of the CMO, there are six levels of employees at KAMP.
The second highest earning employee takes home a basic salary of Sh193,794 per month, with the next category earning Sh87,472. The next highest earning employee takes home Sh71,500 per month and the list earner takes home Sh24,200.
According to KAMP’s website, there are 12 salaried staff at various levels who deal with the day-to-day operations of the CMO.
Chief Executive Officer CS Maurice Okoth sits at the top of the pyramid.
Other staff include Head of Finance Sarah Ombalo, Head of Administration Timothy Mutinda, Head of Human Resources Diana Rose, Head of Licensing Jane Wandigah, Membership Services and Documentation Officer Naomi Wairimu, National Accountant Brian Ndambuki, Accountant Eric Kombo, Regional Manager Nyanza Sarah Bondi, Regional Accountant Lower Eastern Maron Kioko, Regional Accountant Wesrten Danieler Mose and Office Assistant Tresavilla Khakhoyi.
Since assuming office in October 2022, CS Okoth has been campaigning for transparency in the operations of the CMOs.
The country’s three CMOs, KAMP, the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) and the Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK), continue to struggle to gain the trust of their members and the public amid constant reports of misappropriation of artiste royalties by the three bodies.
In an earlier telephone conversation with Nairobi News, CS Okoth, who is also a former MCSK CEO, stated that under his leadership, KAMP will always remain an open book.
“As KAMP, we welcome all forms of enquiries and questions regarding our operations. We will always be ready to account for all our actions,” said CS Okoth.
