Director of Programs at Pathfinder
Job Purpose:
The Director of Programs (DOP) is responsible for overseeing and providing technical leadership of projects implemented by Pathfinder in Tanzania. The DOP is responsible for supervising and delegating authority and resources to Senior Portfolio Technical Advisors and Project Managers reporting to him / her who are responsible for project implementation. The DOP is responsible for project budget oversight. The DOP will keep abreast of new developments in the technical areas supported by Pathfinder and will guide the project implementation team to ensure high quality of project execution, adoption of best practices, alignment with global standards of care and ensuring implementation fidelity. Being a member of Pathfinder Tanzania’s Senior Management Team, the DOP will contribute to overall organizational leadership, compliance, ambassadorship, and program portfolio growth
Project Management
Define Program or Project Cycle and support SPTAs to manage project(s) life cycle from proposal writing, project initiation, implementation and close out.
Lead work planning, organizing, and support implementation of program or project activities to ensure they align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Support timely preparations and reviews program or project reports on activities, achievements, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that the reports effectively communicate program goals, progress, and impact to promote transparency and accountability
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure program success. Anticipate challenges, address issues proactively, and make adjustments to program plans as necessary.
Financial Management
Work with finance teams to allocate resources effectively, monitor program expenses, and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Review and approve program or project expenditures as per defined approved budget(s).
Support timely preparations of program or project financial reports

Staff Supervision and Development
Manage Performance of Senior portfolio technical advisors and Project Managers direct reporting to him / her (set performance goals, conducting performance evaluations)
Provide leadership and guidance to program staff
Providing mentoring and professional development opportunities
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by seeking feedback, monitoring trends in the field, and incorporating best practices into program design and delivery.
Encourage innovation and adapt programs to meet changing needs and emerging trends.
Strategic Planning
Work closely with senior management team colleagues and other stakeholders to develop program strategies and long-term plans.
contribute to the strategic direction of the organization by identifying programmatic opportunities, innovations and assessing their feasibility and impact.
Minimum Education and Job Experience
Master’s degree or higher in public health, health policy and related social science fields.
At least 10 years’ experience in providing tech leadership, program development and management in NGO set up
Expertise in SRHR, Climate Resilience, RMNCAH, AYSRH
Knowledge of Health Systems Strengthening, Community – based programing and documentation of best practices,
At least 5 years’ experience of working in senior leadership position especially in NGOs
Experience of overseeing or working on programs funded by multiple donors
