DJ Joe Mfalme to cancel all Easter plans after court orders detention – Nairobi News

Detained DJ Joe Mfalme will miss out on several engagements he had lined up for the Easter holidays.

“I urge this court to reject the police application to remand DJ Joe Mfalme for 21 days. He had several entertainment fixtures lined up and he will miss them if he is remanded in custody,” a defence lawyer urged the court on March 25.

But the prosecution objected, saying the police needed time to complete investigations into the death of crime buster Felix Kelian Kitosi.

The lawyers, however, insisted that DJ Joe Mfalme be released to enable him to fulfil his contractual obligations, but this was rejected.

“If the suspect is detained, he will not be able to fulfil his promises to his clients who had booked his services over the long Easter holidays,” said Magistrate Margaret Murage.

In her ruling, Ms Murage rejected an application to release the murder suspects pending investigations.

She granted an application by the police to detain DJ Joe Mfalme and six others pending further investigations into the alleged fatal assault of DCI detective Kitosi. Ms Murage said the suspects would be detained for 14 days.

The DCI had requested 21 days, but the court said 14 days was enough.

DJ Joe will be held at Muthangari police station along with Eric Gathua and Simon Wanjiru. Allan Ochieng will be detained at Kabete police station while three officers, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi will be detained at Riruta police station.

The court ordered that the case be heard on April 8, 2024.

DJ Joe Mfalme had a busy schedule ahead, set to take the stage at various events across different cities.

On Tuesday, March 26, he was slated to perform at a corporate launch event in Nairobi, followed by a gig at the Platinum 7D Lounge in Nakuru on Thursday, March 28.

The weekend promised even more excitement as he geared up for multiple shows on Friday, March 29.

First, he was scheduled to entertain the crowd at The Ultimate Playdate hosted at Nairobi Street Kitchen, then make his way to Kikuyu for a performance at Texas Barbecue.

On Saturday, March 30, his talents were set to shine at Bar Next Door located on Kiambu Road.

Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, March 31, DJ Joe Mfalme was expected to bring his signature beats to the Meau Football Challenge event in Meru.

However, his plans took an unexpected turn as he found himself detained pending further investigation into the alleged fatal assault of DCI detective Kitosi, leaving his upcoming shows in limbo.
