Position: Plumbing Technician 

Reports to: Technical Manager 

Position Type:Staff Position

Job Location: Arusha, Tanzania

 

Objective of the Role: To participate in problem identification, repair, and maintenance within the plumbing technical area, including assisting in troubleshooting, rectifying faults, and supporting senior staff. This involves performing preventive maintenance, ensuring proper inventory management of tools and spare parts, adhering to safety protocols, and fulfilling other assigned tasks as required by management.

Main activities:

1. Engage in activities aimed at identifying problems within a specific technical domain.
2. Aid in repairing and maintaining items within the designated technical area.
3. Conduct routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
4. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues.
5. Assist in addressing identified technical faults and promptly report them.
6. Support senior staff members in relevant operational fields.
7. Aid in identifying appropriate spare parts, tools, and equipment required for assigned tasks.
8. Ensure proper maintenance of the working environment and tools used in maintenance tasks.
9. Undertake any additional tasks delegated by the management team.

Specific Tasks:

1. Engage in activities to identify problems within a specific technical domain and ensure thorough follow-up on the identified issues.
2. Aid in the repair and maintenance of equipment within the designated technical area by assembling, installing, and maintaining pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems in adherence to specifications and plumbing codes.
3. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment by completing and reviewing maintenance checklist forms according to the prescribed schedule.
4. Diagnose and resolve technical issues by installing and repairing pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
5. Assist in rectifying identified technical faults and promptly report them as necessary.
6. Support senior staff members in operational tasks as needed, including responding to emergency calls.
7. Assist in identifying appropriate spare parts, tools, and equipment required for tasks and maintain an inventory of owned materials.
8. Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the work environment and tools used for maintenance tasks by inspecting completed jobs and ensuring areas are left clean.

Qualifications and Skills:

• A Relevant Technical Diploma / Certificate from an accredited College/University.
• Relevant  experience of not less than 4 years.
• Experience in a farm or the agricultaral sector is an added advantage
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have proficient skills in both English and Swahili languages.
