Iran’s supreme leader has said it does not matter how many missiles hit their targets as he praised his country’s unprecedented attack on Israel.
“How many missiles were launched and how many of them hit their target is not the primary question, what really matters is that Iran demonstrated its will-power during that operation,” Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.
Iran attacked Israel with over 300 missiles and drones on April 13, in what it said was retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria.
The vast majority of Iranian missiles and drones fired at Israel were shot down.
Israel claimed it prevented 99 per cent of the projectiles from reaching their targets, although US officials believe five Iranian ballistic missiles caused minor damage to an Israeli air force base.
Tel Aviv praised its state-of-the-art Arrow missile defence system for intercepting the mass salvo, and thanked allies for their assistance.
Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister, said that RAF jets shot down “a number of drones” bound for Israel during the Iranian assault.
