Perched on a series of elevated platforms and walkways, our Lodge sits next to an animal watering hole, where you can watch a family of elephants stop for their morning drink. Nestled in the heart of Central Serengeti amid wide-open plains, our Lodge is just a 45-minute drive from the Seronera Airstrip, accessible by connecting flights from three main airports within Tanzania. This beautiful lodge opened under the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts family in December 2012, and has 77 rooms including 12 suites and 5 villas, 3 stunning Food and Beverage venues, our unique Discovery Centre offering an interactive experience where you can learn about the wildlife, history and people of the Serengeti, Kijana Kids Club, a spa with 6 free-standing treatment pavilions offering bespoke rituals and treatments that celebrate Africa’s magic and mystique, fitness center and a dedicated team bringing your magical wildlife safaris experiences to life.

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations for the pool and restaurant in absence of the F&B Manager. To assist F&B Manager in ensuring all staff adhere to Four Seasons standards.

Applicants with Tanzanian work authorization will be considered.

Job Description:

Is directly responsible for the day to day key processes in area of work.

2. Assists managers in executing the day to day operational requirements

3. Assumes training responsibilities when required; demonstrates a high degree of standards awareness; promotes teamwork and acts as role model

4. Actively offers operational, employee and customer (internal and external) related feedback to management

5. Displays warmth, care and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers; lives the Golden Rule.

6. Ensures the work area is ready for service with pre- and post service checks completed; assists in preparation of mise-en-place

7. Directs colleagues and takes responsibility for quality and sequence of service in his/her work area; takes orders for, serves (where applicable, prepares) food and beverages to guests as per Lodge standards in a friendly, timely and efficient manner

8. Is thoroughly familiar with wines and menu items and able to compose and recommend suitable menu progression and wine pairing; up sells sensitively

9. Provides genuine hospitality and recognition, acts as host/hostess in the work area. Keeps abreast of events in the Lodge and promotes services and products

10. Engages in guests interaction in a sensitive and appropriate manner; anticipates guest needs and ascertains satisfaction; takes ownership of guest concerns and requests and acts decisively to ensure guest satisfaction when glitches occur

11. Adheres to the Lodges’s code of conduct and grooming & hygiene standards12. Is seen as working hands-on, assists colleagues in crunch times; Walks the talk

13. Actively participates in briefings and meetings

14. Maintains a clean and orderly work area and promotes a safe working environment

15. Performs any additional duties as assigned

16. Handles service of large tables, VIPs and private events

17. Describes food & beverage menu items with interesting and vivid descriptions in a concise, informative and appropriate manner

18. Is highly sensitive to guest preferences; assists in compiling guest history; offers a special service touch when an opportunity is presented

19. Accurately posts guest checks, processes payments and adheres to related control procedures in a vigilant manner

20. Ensure a clean, stocked station for the smooth running of his/her station.

21. Clean in and around Restaurant area as required and as directed by the Restaurant Supervisors and Managers.

22. Assist clients during a Fire or Emergency Evacuation.

23. Collect food from the kitchen when required.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Makes drinks in the Bar for Lodge Guests

2. Attends all scheduled training sessions

3. Act as a trainer for new employees to ensure they learn from the beginning the standards and procedures. To ensure new employees to the department receive the correct first day orientation and standards training manual.

4. Assists in supplies requisitions according to established procedures
