The Zambian government has officially handed over Mopani Copper Mines- MCM to International Resources Holdings-IRH, an investor from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
President Hakainde Hichilema officiated the event in Kitwe expressing government confidence that unlocking of Mopani Copper Mines will play a bigger role towards the country’s economy.
He says with the coming in of IRH at Mopani, the asset is now expected to start producing up to two hundred thousand metric tonnes of Copper per annum.
The United Arab Emirates most valuable listed company is set to inject 1.1 billion dollars into Mopani Copper Mines with a 51% ownership of the business.
