IDC nods Mopani deal

The Industrial Development Corporation -IDC- says the engagement of an equity partner for Mopani Copper Mines was done in accordance with the laws of Zambia.

IDC Chief Executive Officer, CORNWELL MULEYA says government followed the due process of the law in the transaction and that there was no breach.

And, Mr. MULEYA says the decision to allow an equity partner to have more shares in Mopani Copper Mines was the best one to keep the mining giant viable.

He says the equity partner has brought in funding which will keep Mopani Copper Mines afloat.

Speaking on TV1 Sunday Interview, Mr. MULEYA said the IDC will offload shares for Zambians to participate in the running of Mopani Copper Mines.
