Good Neighbors is an international humanitarian development NGO founded in Korea in 1991. It was granted General Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). The aim is to make the world a place without hunger, where people live together in harmony. In Tanzania it was officially established in 2005 and our efforts work towards creating an environment where children’s rights are protected and sustainable development of communities through empowerment, leadership and ownership.
The primary responsibility of the new employee is to assist and consult in facilitating trade among IG members of Good Neighbors Partnership Countries in East and Southern Africa. Additionally, successful candidate will be responsible for support the general IG activities of GNTZ.
Position: Income Generation Officer
Reports to: Agriculture and Microfinance Coordinator
Location: Songwe
Contract Duration: 4 months (Contract extension is subject to funding availability, performance and/or mutual agreement).
Under the overall authority of the Country Director (CD) of Good Neighbors Tanzania (GNTZ), the Income Generation (IG) Officer will play a key role in facilitating trade among IG entities within Good Neighbors Partnership Countries in East and Southern Africa. This role involves working closely with the Income Generation Manager to support and enhance the general IG activities of GNTZ. The primary focus is to improve food security across the region and bolster the economic benefits of cooperatives through increased production, trading, and climate forecasting. The IG Officer will be responsible for consulting and assisting in trade facilitation and supporting overall IG initiatives
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate trading between Tanzania and Southern Africa countries
- Collect Agricultural data in the field
- Collect grain marketing data (price, agriculture)
- Search for suppliers and forwarder of maize and other grains in Tanzania
- Search for importers of maize and other grains in other countries
- Monitor each procedure of trading among countries from order to acquisition of grains
- Provide professional advice and assistance for trading among countries
- Collaborate with stakeholders during trading procedures including government officials, traders, forwarders and GN entities
- Schedule and implement business trips to facilitate trading activities between any regional area in
- Tanzania and neighboring countries
- Perform any other duties related to IG activities as may be assigned
Qualification, experiences and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree or above in one of: Economics, Trade and Management
- Experience in at least 2 years of trading area (Trade practitioner, Forwarder, etc)
- Skill to review trading documents skill to utilize Microsoft office Packages
- Knowledge in trade and understanding of supply chain in grain markets of Tanzania
- Understanding of supply chain about grain markets of Tanzania
- Strong collaboration, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional time, task, and resource management skills
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, coaching, verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to multitask, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transitions, dedicated to achieve high quality standards
