Job Title: Intern – Youth and Agriculture Project

Country Background

CRS in Tanzania works in very close collaboration with the Catholic Church and implements programs through both Churches and secular local partners. CRS has been helping poor, vulnerable families improve their lives through orphans and vulnerable children, agriculture, health, microfinance and WASH programming in Tanzania since 1962.

Job Summary:

As an intern of the Youth and Agriculture Project (GHG), He/she will support monitor, and report on project activities in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve. He/ She will provide technical oversight of GHG in the delivery of effective approaches and strategies for serving our opportunity youth.

Job Responsibilities:

In Collaboration with the youth and agriculture team

facilitate the monitoring of beans Quality Declared Seeds (QDS) farms, as well as the maize demonstration plot.
Facilitate training in harvest and post-harvest for farmers and ensure the application of GAPs is followed by farmers.
Support access to finance to farmers including SILC, link to FSP, and share-out meeting to ensure the data are collected for uploading in the MIS system.
Support on development of business plans and monitor youth group business, especially on record-keeping.
Support field data collection and management during routine monitoring and conduct annual assessments to help track progress on increasing maize and beans productivity, adoption of introduced good agricultural practices (GAPs), reducing post-harvesting losses, and access to inputs.
Documentation of the field report, success stories, and lessons learned.

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

In Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness or other related fields preferred.
Should be a graduate between year 2022 to 2023.
Knowledge in Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy is an added advantage.
Thorough familiarity with principles, policies, and current approaches to agriculture development in Tanzania and worldwide.
Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.

Travel Required:

60% travel to field locations.

Supervisory: Nil

Internal: Head of Programs, Head of Office- Mbeya, Project coordinator, other Program andO peration staff.

External: YB and KyK local partners; HRNS and Tanzanian government representatives.
