Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at MedClinix 24 Medical Diagnostics Centre. The Medical Laboratory Technician will provide support for the laboratory scientist to perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, accurately analyzing specimens, and ensuring the quality and integrity of laboratory results. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Support the laboratory scientists in perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including but not limited to hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and immunology assays.
- Prepare specimens for analysis, including labeling, centrifugation, and aliquoting, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration, performance, and cleanliness.
- Support the laboratory scientist in analysing test results, interpret findings, and accurately document and report laboratory findings in a timely manner.
- Support in performing quality control checks and participate in proficiency testing programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Monitor inventory levels of reagents, supplies, and consumables, and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including scientists, nurses, phlebotomist and laboratory staff, to ensure coordinated patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Provide support and guidance to laboratory assistants and other staff members as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and sensitive laboratory data at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, HND or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification or registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by a recognized professional body, such as the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience working as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including automated analyzers, centrifuges, and microscopes.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and professionalism in all aspects of laboratory practice.
