Mcharo, Kadio win second edition of Lina Pro-Am Tour

Dar es Salaam. Amateur golfer Ally Mcharo of TPC club in Moshi emerged as the winner of the second edition of the Lina Pro-Am Tour title at the Morogoro Gymkhana course.

Apart from Mcharo, prominent professional golfer Hassan Kadio of the Dar es Salaam Ghymkhana club also shone, winning on the professional side.

Mcharo, a national team golfer, grossed 297 strokes over all four days, while Kadio grossed 300 strokes to clinch the silverware in the professional category.

Mcharo was awarded Sh2.2 million for securing the top spot, while Kadio pocketed Sh6.8 million for his victory in the professional division.

Speaking after the event, Mcharo said the competition was very tough, and all golfers were aiming for the top prize.

“I have achieved the best performance in the history of the game. As you know, I competed against professional golfers and managed to outperform them. I was at my peak performance,” said Mcharo.

The event also saw Isiaka Daudi finishing second among elite amateurs after grossing 312 strokes, earning him Sh1.3m, while Michael Masawe placed third with 318 strokes and was awarded Sh900,000.

Victor Joseph of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana placed fourth after grossing 319 strokes, pocketing Sh700,000. The fifth place in the elite amateur category went to Seif Mcharo, who grossed 320 strokes, taking home Sh570, 000.

In the professional category, Abdallah Yusuph placed second with 304 strokes, earning Sh4.3 million, followed by Nuru Mollel with 305 strokes, winning Sh3.4 million, and Byson Nyenza, who collected 306 strokes, pocketing Sh2.7 million and Isaack Wanyeche grossed 310 strokes, taking home Sh2.2 million.

Also on the list are Fadhyl Nkya, who garnered 313 strokes, winning 1.2 million, Frank Roman with 315 strokes, earning Sh480,000, and Frank Mwinuka with 317 strokes, pocketing Sh480,000.

Apart from commemorating the late Lina Said Nkya, the tournament also aims to sharpen skills and achieve the highest standards for both professional and amateur golfers in the country.

The schedule shows that the third event is planned for the Arusha Gymkhana Club court from July 11 to 14.

The schedule indicates that the fourth event will tee off at the Moshi Club Golf Course from September 26 to 29, and the grand finale is scheduled to take place at the Dar es Salaam Golf Course from November 1 to 17.
