MWEEMBA, SINAZONGWE CHIEFDOM REPS URGE COAL MINES TO RESPECT GOVERNMENT AUTHORITY

Sinazongwe District’s Mweemba Chiefdom Representative, Benny Siamudyansi, says coal mining investors in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, must respect President Hakainde Hichilema’s Representatives because it is God who chooses leaders.

Mr. Siamudyansi said the trend of mines shunning meetings called by Government should not be entertained as investors need to live in harmony with host communities.

This came to light during a Multi-stakeholder Dialogue in Sinazongwe District convened by Centre for Environment Justice (,CEJ) through the Resilient Initiatives for Sustainable Environment (RISE) Project with support from Bread for the World.

Mr. Siamudyansi, however, thanked Collum Coal Mine and Zambian Weiye Mine for participating in the CEJ Multi-stakeholder Dialogue.

And Sinazongwe Chiefdom Representative Donald Sialwele said subjects in his Chiefdom have unresolved issues that demand dialogue with investors.

Mr. Sialwele thanked CEJ for providing a platform for genuine dialogue in the interest of protecting citizens against violation of their human and environmental rights.
