President William Ruto has consoled with Bishop Jesse Gitahi Maina of the Priesthood Fellowship Church in Nairobi following the loss of his mother.

The Bishop announced the demise of his mum, Dorcas Maina on Monday.

In a brief social media post, the Head of State prayed for Bishop Gitahi’s family to find solace and strength during the difficult mourning period.

“I extend my deepest condolences to you, Bishop JJ Gitahi, of The Priesthood Fellowship Church, and your family on the passing of your Mother. May God grant you solace and strength during this difficult time,” President Ruto eulogized.

In announcing his mum’s death, the bishop said on his Facebook account “Dear friends, brother, and sisters it is with great sorrow and profound grief that I inform you, Maitu Dorcas, the queen has bowed while undergoing treatment at the Kenya University Referral Hospital. She took her last breath at 11:22am”.

He thanked his friends and brethren “for the love and continued support you’ve shown her all through, when great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety, Maya Angelou”.

The President and the Bishop have been friends for a while, the cleric using his pulpit to support Ruto on his political journey during and after his election. He has also maintained that Kenyans should remain steadfast in supporting the government.

In turn, the President has severally attended mass at the Bishop’s church in Nairobi’s Kahawa West.

Bishop JJ who has since confessed that he did not attend secondary school became popular for his Inooro FM show dubbed Hutia Mùndù (touch someone) where he delivered family counseling laced with comedy.

Besides releasing several musical tracks, his fortunes hit a high when he launched his church in 2012, worked his way into political dalliances and the rest is history.

Regarding burial arrangements for his mother, the Bishop has posted that meetings are ongoing at the Blue Springs Hotel, Nairobi.

“On Sunday we will have the memorial service from 2:30 pm at Priesthood Fellowship Church before a final meeting on Monday evening. Burial to proceed in Kaimbaga village of Nyandarua County on  March 26, 2024,” he said.
