The Opportunity:
Simusolar is a rapidly growing company offering accessible, affordable and energy-efficient equipment and financing. The Finance Intern will be joining an impactful organization with potential to grow within the company as it expands within Tanzania and internationally. This role provides exposure to the fast-growing asset financing space.
Location: These position is based in Dar es Salaam
Reporting:
This position initially reports directly to the Finance Manager. There will also be significant exposure, interaction and collaboration with other departments, including: Hardware, IS & Engineering, Field Service, Credit, HR, Customer Care, Operations and Sales. Externally, the position works with the TRA, banks, suppliers and others.

Duties and Responsibilities Overview
As a Finance Intern at Simusolar, you play a crucial role in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting the organization’s growth. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your contributions are vital for accurate accounting information and financial reporting, including grants.
Duties
Grants Related Transactions Reporting:
- Gather and organize data related to grants received by Simusolar. Ensure prompt reporting of grants transactions to the respective grant providers. o Arrange proper supporting documents for all grant-related transactions.
Accounts Payable Assistance:
- Assist in managing accounts payable processes.
- Help ensure timely payment of weekly sales, field services, and operational expenses.
- Assist in processing and paying invoices promptly.
Cash Management Assistance:
- Properly record all cash receipts in the appropriate expense accounts.
- Assist in reconciling cash books and petty cash reports on a weekly basis.
Accounting / Bookkeeping:
- Maintain Books of Accounts: Contribute to the proper upkeep of Simusolar’s financial records.
- Timely Monthly Close: Assist in ensuring timely monthly closing procedures as required.
Tax Compliance:
- Administrative Tax Support: Collaborate with the department on administrative tax matters as instructed.
Minimum requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: The candidate should be comfortable using Excel for data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting.
- Quick Learning of Accounting Software: The ability to adapt swiftly to new accounting software tools is essential.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy: A solid foundation in accounting principles is necessary.
- Registration with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA): This ensures compliance with professional standards.
Certifications and Advantages:
- CPA Candidate/ACCA Level 1 or 2: While not mandatory, having these certifications is advantageous.
▪ Note: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) are globally recognized qualifications.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English and Swahili: Effective communication in both languages is crucial for collaboration and client interactions.
Measurement of Performance / What Success Looks Like
– Timely Preparation of Reconciliations:
- The successful candidate will consistently complete reconciliation tasks within the specified timeframes. This includes ensuring accurate matching of financial records, identifying discrepancies, and resolving them promptly.
-Timely and Accurate Closing of the Accounting Books:
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate efficiency in closing the accounting books at the end of each financial period. This involves finalizing financial statements, adjusting entries, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
– Timely Internal Audits Demonstrating Both Compliance:
- The performance measurement includes conducting internal audits within the scheduled timelines. These audits should validate adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures. Any identified non-compliance issues should be addressed promptly.
– Compliance with All TRA Requirements and Regulations:
- The successful candidate will maintain strict compliance with all regulations set by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). This includes accurate tax reporting, timely submissions, and adherence to tax laws.
– Timely Grants Reporting:
- The candidate will be responsible for grant reporting within the stipulated deadlines. This involves preparing comprehensive reports on grant utilization, impact assessment, and compliance with grant terms.
