Trump, who started the tournament as one of the favourites to add to his 2019 world title, opened up in style against Jones with a 110 break.
But Welshman Jones, appearing in his second consecutive quarter-final, constructed a 69 and 94 as he went 3-1 up.

And the players shared out the remaining four frames with a 117 break from Jones in the final frame on Tuesday the highlight.
In contrast, Gilbert compiled breaks of 83, 110 and 130 as he impressed to open up a 7-1 lead over Maguire in the first session of their best-of-25 affair.
However, world number 28 Maguire rallied in the evening despite going 9-2 behind and seeing his opponent forge his second 130 of the match.
While Gilbert retains a healthy cushion, the Scot claimed four of the last five frames to keep his hopes of reaching a first Crucible semi-final for 12 years alive.
