The Masters LIVE: Day Three – radio commentary, leaderboard as Scheffler, Woods and McIlroy head out

‘I hit the ball better’published at 20:42

McIlroy +3 (71)

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, speaking to Sky Sports, after his one-under 71 left him three over for the tournament: “It’s still pretty rough out there, some of the hole locations are really tricky, the wind is less than yesterday but still there.

“As the day goes on, with the wind up and sun out, the greens will get firmer. The leaders are off to a good start but it will get tricky out there.”

On spending time on the range in darkness last night: “I needed to find some rhythm last night. I hit some balls for 10-15 minutes just to get a feel. It was nice to hit the ball a bit better today and make some birdies. Not quite as many as I wanted but definitely better.”

On his mindset tomorrow: “To go out there and give it a go. A couple of years ago I went out there and shot a good score and got myself up the leaderboard.

“If the conditions stay the same and pick up four, five six shots you will get up the leaderboard. I will try to finish the week on a positive note.”
