Uganda Police have provided an update on the investigation into the attempted murder of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, leader of House of Prayer International Ministries.
Bugingo survived a drive-by shooting in January that tragically claimed the life of his driver, Richard Muhumuza. The case has been shrouded in controversy, with some questioning Bugingo’s account of events.
Pastor Bugingo himself recently expressed frustration with the lack of updates from police. In response, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga addressed the case during a security briefing on Monday.
I want to shed light on Pastor Bugingo’s remarks about his case. The investigation is still going on. Apparently, the only proof we have is the pistol that was used. It’s the same used to kill Isma Olaxess. Apart from that, we have nothing and appeal to the public to come forward if they have any valuable information. I want to assure him that a case can never rot. For instance, it took us 8 years to nab the killers of Joan Kagezi but eventually we did.

Enanga acknowledged the ongoing investigation but cautioned that conclusive evidence remains elusive. However, he revealed a link between the weapon used in the Bugingo shooting and the murder of blogger Isma Olaxess last year.
Bugingo has reportedly argued that a nearby street camera could provide valuable clues, but authorities have yet to comment on that specific detail. The investigation continues, with both police and the public awaiting further developments.
