Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga)’s attacking midfielder, Stephane Aziz KI, has stated that he will continue to stay with Yanga despite being linked to joining Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Aziz KI, whose contract expires in June this year, has been a topic of discussion on social media, especially after his goal against Mamelodi Sundowns was disallowed in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

The Burkinabe player scored the goal skillfully in the 58th minute of the match before the referee, Dehane Beida, from Mauritania, in collaboration with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), disallowed it.

The player joined Yanga in the 2022/2023 season from Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast and his signing was highly publicized, with his introduction being made at midnight.

Football fans have been linking the player to Mamelodi Sundowns after the South African side coach, Rhulani Mokwena, spoke to him after the first leg ended at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam and after the second leg held in Pretoria at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Through his Instagram account, Aziz KI states that he has not yet achieved his goals within the Yanga club and therefore will not leave after his contract expires.

“I have no expectations of leaving Yanga at the moment because I have not achieved the goals that brought me here. This club, which I love with all my heart, still owes me, and even money cannot fill the love I have for this club,” said Aziz KI.

The player has currently scored 13 goals in the Tanzanian Premier League and assisted 7 times.

The player also revealed that Mokwena was just telling him that he should improve his type of playing in order to attain his best in his career.

“Rhulani told me to improve my playing and I did it during the return leg held in South Africa, where he commended me for that,” said Aziz Ki.
