Actress Sarah Hassan says she regulates her use of social media for the sake of her mental health and overall wellbeing.
Hassan, who has a massive following on social media, also says she has no qualms blocking people on her socials when they cross certain certain boundaries.

“The thing is, it’s your page. You do what makes you happy and if someone is not happy with what you do then they need to do what makes them happy,” she says.
The film producer, who has more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram, 1.3 million on Facebook and more than 615,000 on TikTok, also explained that she has developed different patterns of using social media.

“With social media, I set boundaries. You will find that I will go offline for a while to get in tune with myself, or I will be online for a few hours a day or a certain amount of time a day. How much time I spend on social media depends (many factors). There are times when I would go for a month without social media. It’s all about balance,” she says.
Despite the rise in mental health concerns brought about by the pressures of social media, Sarah says that good people understand that nobody ever posts their bad days on social media.

“On social media, people never post their bad days or their failures, they post their good days, their happy days, the days they excelled. It’s very rare that you see people posting bad days, days where they’ve made mistakes. So you never know what they’re going through in their personal life or behind the scenes. That’s why I’m a big advocate of people being kind to each other and it doesn’t cost anything,” she says.
She also points out that people are not always as happy as they seem to be on social media.
